ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

 

Edith Royce Schade

 

 

For her commissioned work, environmental portraits of children, adults and animals in black and white or color, Edith Royce Schade is known by her nickname, "Duffy". In her personal work she celebrates the natural world, some of the people in it, and uses her photography to promote environmental awareness and stewardship.
In addition to From May Sarton's Well, her work has appeared in several other books including Time for Love: Assisted Living Viewed by One of the Very Old, by Janet Carncross Chandler (Papier-Mache Press, 1995) as well as numerous magazines and newspapers. She has exhibited in one-person, group and juried shows . Her work is included in collections of the Town of Glastonbury, Connecticut and several corporations.

Her work can be seen and purchased at David James Gallery, 270 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Works of Hand, 426 Main Street, Winter Harbor, Maine.

Edith Royce Schade is a popular lecturer, giving her multi-media slide shows to libraries, art and senior groups, nature centers and garden clubs throughout Connecticut. Her prepared shows include: "Monet at Giverny: Light and Flowers", "Natures's Garden", "Of Sassafras and Shadblow: Celebrating Our Native Trees and Shrubs" and "Our Home, Their Home: Welcoming Wildlife Into Our Lives".
